New SketchUp application for urban design

Yesterday Urbs company announced the initial release of Modelur application, which makes the design of urban space rapid and simple. This new application is based on Google SketchUp and is available for testing to all participants of a Pre-beta partner program until the first release. Participation in Pre-beta partner program is free of charge.
What are the advantages of Modelur?
The main advantage of the program Modelur – in comparison with existing computer aided design applications – is its specialization for use in urban design and planning, which makes it a great time saver comparing to traditional tools. Beside special tools for parametric urban design of buildings, it also offers real-time survey over achieved urban control values and warnings when some limitations, such as minimal distance of two buildings, are not fulfilled.
Modelur is 3D application for parametric urban design. “This newly developed method is based on contemporary urban design practice” said Jernej Vidmar, head of Modelur development “and is extending it with computer application, taking the advantage of modern computer calculating power in a way never used before”.
This feature set not only makes the design faster but also decreases the possibility of mistakes occuring when designing urban space.
Modelur Pre-Beta
Modelur is currently in early phase of development and testing. The purpose of pre-beta partner program is to collaborate with the users and to improve and upgrade the application based on their feedback. The aim of Modelur development team is to adapt the application as much as possible to the wishes and needs of future customers and make it interesting for broad spectrum of end-users. Therefore all interested public is invited to join the Pre-beta partner program free of charge and inform the Modelur team about user-experience and wishes for the future development of Modelur.
How to obtain Modelur
Modelur can be downloaded from www.modelur.com/prebeta, where all further instructions related to use of application can be found. The application requires Google SketchUp and is immediately available for Windows operation system, with the Mac OS X version coming in the next few days.
